A hero who must always wear a scarf, the best reality show not on TV, the son of the Dude helps out, the fourth non-contradictory origin story for a favorite sidekick, and leather and lace bound evil conquer the British government . No, this isn’t the fever dream of a mad welshman. We’ve gone through this week’s comic releases and determined 5 Comics Not to Miss This Week!
Talon #0
A former assasin now on the side of good. Well it’s not exactly new in the world of comics, is it? So what’s this guy’s twist? He’s already dead? Be done before. What makes Talon so special? The fact that he can’t fight anybody in temperatures below freezing, which in Gotham City means he has to spend the winter months indoors? Seems like kind of a disadvantage to me.
So why is this a pick for this week? Well with the incredible Scott Snyder helming this one, I’m certain he’ll find a way to work around these issues and give us a truly enjoyable read, that’s why. |
Idolized #2
She passed the first round, and is on her way towards the finals. The competition is more fierce at this level, and Joule is still hiding a secret. Will she be found out? Or will she be able to continue her path to joining the world’s most powerful (and popular) superhero team? And what will happen when she comes face to face with the man who destroyed her life? More exciting than an actual reality show, Idolized is one not to miss! |
Invincible Iron Man #525
Mandarin has captured Tony Stark and has forced him into making doomsday weapons against his will. Where will Tony find help? Ezekiel Stane, while not the most obvious choice, does seem to be all the help that Tony will be getting (I guess the Avengers were busy or something). Matt Fraction and Salvador Larroca’s run on this book is winding up in anticipation of the Marvel Now! reboot, so make sure to pick this one up before Gillan and Land take over!

Teen Titans #0
So how has Batman been able to have so many Robin’s in just five years? Well Nightwing #0 showed us the early years of Dick Grayson, Batman & Robin #0 covered Damian’s origin, Red Hood and the Outlaws #0 reinvented Jason Todd, so in Teen Titans #0 it is Tim Drakes turn. Here we find out how Tim, the Olympic hopeful and computer genius became the third Robin. So, unless DC Decides to bring back Stephanie Brown, this will be the last Robin Origin we will be having in the foreseeable future. Oh yeah and the origins of Skitter and Bunker as well. Yay. |
Steed and Mrs. Peel #1
Mark Waid’s relaunch of the world’s premiere super-spy team, Steed and Mrs. Peel, continues off it’s hot 0 issue with the original Hellfire Club infiltrating all aspects of the British government. Cut off from all support, with only each other to turn to, can John and Emma defeat these vile villains? Well, of course the can, but the fun part is the how. |

When not ranting about the current state of his favorite comics or working on L33t, Mark spends a majority of his time renovating his newly purchased, 120 year old Victorian house. Badly. He is very bad at talking about himself in the third person, as he thinks it make him sound pretentious.
