New adventures from our favorite time traveler, the final days of a blind hero, a unique group of heroes battling to save the world, an out of place teen learns her true destiny, and the climax to a year long war. No, we haven’t been dreaming of new Harry Potter sequels (again), we’ve gone through this week’s comic releases and determined 5 Comics Not to Miss This Week!
Doctor Who Vol. 3 #1
This relaunch of the Doctor Who ongoing was supposed to debut last month, but it seems to have been pushed back a bit. Written by former 2000A.D. editor Andy Diggle, with art by Fables superstar Mark Buckingham, this new series should be (as my grandmother used to say) a hoot and a half. Don’t miss your chance to pick up this #1, as well as its 1:10 “Build Your Own TARDIS” variant cover. |
Daredevil: End of Days #1
Set in the very near future, one where the world has gone to hell, this Daredevil mini-series tells the Hornhead’s final story from the point of view of Ben Ulrich, writing his final piece for the Daily Bugle. Featuring a good portion of the Daredevil canon (with Bullseye and The Kingpin being the main villains in the first issue), the creative team of Brian Michael Bendis and David Mack writing with Bill Sienkiewicz and Klaus Janson on art promise that this will be the Daredevil story that demands future rereadings.

Guarding the Globe #2
Last month’s Gaurding the Globe #1 was quite a fun read, and this second issue pushes the stakes even higher as the team is divided around the Earth fighting smaller battles, while “a darker, familiar, threat continues to loom under their very noses.” If you missed issue one of this in your local shop, the reprint will be available the same day as this, so pick both of them up and strap yourself in for a thrilling ride of global proportions!

Robyn Hood #1
Zenoscope is releasing another spinoff of it’s Grimm’s Fairy Talks Series, this one being Robyn Hood. Robyn is the new kid at an upper class high school, and she is feeling the weight of being severely out of place. When she is summoned to Myst, she learns that the fate of the city of Bree falls entirely to her. Will she step up to the challenge and become the hero she needs to be? Probably, but that doesn’t take any fun out of the journey. |
Avengers vs. X-Men #12
The battle between the two biggest teams in the Marvel universe comes to an end here. Where will this leave us? Well we are getting several new books spawning directly from this issue, so that’s something, right? Honestly, if you haven’t been reading this series, there isn’t much I can say here that can convince you to buy this book, except for the fact that many of the Marvel NOW! titles will be grown from the seeds planted in this issue. |

When not ranting about the current state of his favorite comics or working on L33t, Mark spends a majority of his time renovating his newly purchased, 120 year old Victorian house. Badly. He is very bad at talking about himself in the third person, as he thinks it make him sound pretentious.
