Good news, Thor fans. It’s been revealed that Christopher Eccleston has been chosen to play Malekith in Thor: The Dark World. Malekith first appeared in Volume 1, issue #347 of The Mighty Thor, in 1984. He does things in his appearances such as make an alliance with Loki, take control of humans, capture Lorelei and take her hostage, and release a frigid force all over earth. So, all-in-all, he’s clearly a super-nice guy. He’s also a dark elf, with blue skin, so we’ll see if they’re going to portray him like that in the movie, or if he’ll just have a more typical human-like appearance.
Eccleston has acted in other geek-friendly entertainment, such as Doctor Who, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, and 28 Days Later, so I’m excited to see his portrayal of this villain, and for him to have a more prominent role.
The Dark World will be released in theaters November 8th, 2013.
