This week’s titles have been listed and we’d like to share with you our picks for the five comics you can not miss this week! Diving right in we’ve got:
ARCHER & ARMSTRONG #1
With the creative team of Fred Van Lente and Clayton Henry the return of Valiant’s original odd couple, Archer and Armstrong has gone to a second printing at the distributor level, in advance of its release this coming Wednesday. So, besides being an excellent reboot of arguably the best of the Valiant titles from 20 years ago, this one is going to be hard to find. If you see it, make sure to pick it up!
BATMAN #12
This epilogue to “The Court of Owls” is to be a direct lead-in to the next major Bat-Family story, which will feature the return of our favorite grinning madman in issue #13, right after a trip down memory lane in the special issue #0. With guest artist Becky Cloonan (DEMO; BEYOND THE FRINGE) taking over for this issue, and variant covers by Bryan Hitch and Greg Capullo, this is one bat-fans won’t want to miss!
SPIDER-MEN #4
Spider-Men #3 ended with Peter Parker of Earth-616 standing on Aunt May of Earth-1610′s front yard, with Miles Morales and the Ultimates trying to figure out how Mysterio’s Avatar hardware works, and how they can use it to get Peter back home. This title has been a rip-roaring thrill ride thus far, and after what we’ve seen of this penultimate issue, we have no expectations of it letting up before the finale.
DAREDEVIL ANNUAL #1
Marvel’s current Dardevil run is what has has started to bring this former Marvel junkie back into the fold. The first annual from this new series hits shelves this week with story and art by Alan Davis, and if the preview we’ve seen is any indication, this fantastic book will have a fantastic annual to go with it.
IDOLIZED #1
Idolized, Aspen’s long awaited first foray into superhero comics (preview here, review here) lands this week. In a world where superheros are stars, inevitably there will be some network executive trying to cash in. So when we first meet our heroine, Joule, it is during the first round of auditions for “Superhero Idol”, where she reveals that she wants to be a hero for “Revenge…and redemption…” What does she mean by that? Pick up Idolized #1, and find out!
While you are at it, make sure to check out what other books are coming out this week here, and let us know what your can’t miss titles of the week are in the comments below!
About Mark Driscoll
When not ranting about the current state of his favorite comics or working on L33t, Mark spends a majority of his time renovating his newly purchased, 120 year old Victorian house. Badly. He is very bad at talking about himself in the third person, as he thinks it make him sound pretentious.
