Attending this weekend’s Comic-Con in Baltimore? Want a free digital copy of Walking Dead Volume 1? Yes? Then make sure you head straight for the ComiXology booth as the first 500 visitors that come by will receive a limited edition postcard with a  unique download code good for The Walking Dead Vol. 1 from ComiXology (email required).

The Baltimore Comic-Con is the 13th annual convention and will take place this weekend, September 8th and 9th. ComiXology will again be sponsoring the Harvey Awards. The Harvey Awards honor excellence in the comic book industry. Named for Harvey Kurtzman, cartoonist, writer and editor best known for MAD magazine.

Creator of The Walking Dead Robert Kirkman wanted to give the fans a taste of the first graphic novel The Walking Dead TV show is based on. Normally priced at $8.99 and 140 pages in length, the digital volume is one of the best giveaways you can get.

ComiXology was created in 2007 and has revolutionized the world of digital comics and graphic novels making titles available across every platform from iPad to Kindle to the Web. They will be adding their innovation to the convention in many ways. ComiXology will be offering a “Creating Comics the ComiXology Way” panel, open to all Baltimore Comic-Con guests. The panel will take place on Saturday, September 8th at 1pm in room 302-303. Valentine creator Alex De Campi and artist Reilly Brown (Power Play) will be leading the panel discussing how ComiXology has changed not only how people read comics but also how they are creating them. Also at the ComiXology booth will be hands on demonstrations of their digital comics platform, showing off the new 3.1 iOS upgrade.

All in all there will be so many events and booths to visit at the convention it may at times to be hard to figure out where to go next, but it’s a no-brainer that the ComiXology booth (in location #1403) has to be your first stop when you get to the there.

About Shannon Chrismon

Shannon likes to think of herself as a Renaissance woman. She enjoys learning and will seek out new information if only for the purpose of knowing it. Curiosity surely hasn't killed this cat but it has definitely filled her head with volumes of random trivia and nerdy conversation starters. She enjoys literature of all types and at any given time could be found reading anything from the latest Dean Koontz novel, to this month's Deadpool, or even a collection of Richard Feynman lectures. She shares her little corner of the world with boyfriend Mike, lucky to have found someone who likes a girl with lot of nerd DNA.
