Joan of Arc – From the Ashes

Coming to you this October Big Dog Ink, be prepared to see Joan of Arc like she’s never been seen before…

In Steampunk!

Meant as a spin-off of Big Dog Ink’s Penny for Your Soul series, Joan of Arc – From the Ashes chronicles Joan’s quest of saving Mary Magdalene (‘Maggie’ for those who read the series) from her imprisonment in Hell.

And she’ll be doing it all with a pair of Steampunk angel wings.

Now, I don’t know about you, but I happen to think that Steampunk makes everything better.

Don’t ask me why…maybe it’s the perfect blending of past and future (something Joss Whedon achieved to perfection with Firefly, but that’s not the subject at hand here). My point is (aside from Steampunk being generally awesome) that even if you have no interest in the Maid of Orleans (Joan of Arc), the Steampunk twist that those at BDI (Big Dog Ink) are putting on her makes this series more than worth a look.

Written by Tom Hutchison, the 4 issue limited series picks up where volume two – Penny for Your Soul: False Prophet leaves off, delving into the mysteries of angels, demons and what’s really lurking under the old ruins of the Eternity hotel in Las Vegas.

As if the Steampunk spin on the character and storyline wasn’t enough motivation for you to check this series out, then at least check it out to see what’s been done to Las Vegas.

Seriously…can you imagine a Steampunk-style Heaven and Hell? or for that matter…Las Vegas? As someone who’s been to Vegas quite a few times, I for one am very curious as to how the city of casinos and florescent lights will be portrayed.

Seriously…am I alone in thinking that a Steampunk-style Luxor would be all kinds of awesomesauce? I know that it probably won’t appear in the series, but it’s still a very cool thought that I probably won’t be able to stop thinking about for the rest of the day.

Suffice to say, the whole concept sounds very creative, interesting and more than worth a look. Be sure to check it out at your local comic book shop!

And above all else, remember…

Nerd up!
