Jude Law and Johnny Depp Courted by Wes Anderson?

Wes Anderson is top of the cinema-set’s mind with the recent release of Moonrise Kingdom and today’s entertainment news.  The internet is all a buzz over the possible casting for the next Anderson Project.

As of now the film is unnamed but it is supposedly set in Europe and being co-written with a new partner.  The rumor mill is already swirling that Anderson is looking to cast Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Angela Lansbury in addition to his usual partners in crime Bill Murray and Owen Wilson.  Other familiar faces he is supposedly approahcing include Ed Norton, Jeff Goldblum, Adrien Brody, and Willem Dafoe.

Whether you love Anderson’s films, hate them, or just don’t get the hype around him, he’s definitely got a unique perspective and a loyal group of actors who keep coming back for more.  I am actually surprised that Johnny Depp, a champion of the odd and unusual, has not worked with him before.  Initially I was taken back by the thought of Jude Law joining in.  That is at first.  But looking back on Law’s career, he is definitely one to join in and carry his own weight in an ensemble piece.  Law has also been in a number of more experimental movies like Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, and my favorite, I Heart Huckabees.  I also have to admit I think I could be terribly amused by Bill Murray and Jude Law playing off one another. Heck, I think with their dreamy blue eyes, they could play father and son.

Are you a fan of Wes Anderson or do you think he’s overrated? If you are a fan, who would be your dream Wes Anderson cast?
