Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures are looking to bring everyone’s favorite radioactive monster, Godzilla, back to the big screen. The movie is planned for a May 16th, 2014 release. This new incarnation is said to go back to the grittier, darker roots that fans have wanted to see. This will be nothing like the 1998 Roland Emmerich Godzilla which was met with negative reception and most critics saying that the special effects were all that kept the film from being a complete disaster. The creators of Godzilla 2014 promise more action and more realism.
Gareth Edwards will direct from a screen by David Callaham, David S. Goyer and Max Borenstein. Edwards is best known for his movie Monsters in which a journalist escorts a tourist through an area destroyed by an alien invasion to get back to the US. David Callaham has shown off his writing talents in both of the Expendables movies. David S. Goyer is no stranger to larger than life characters as he was part of the sensation that is the Dark Knight Trilogy and the Ghost Rider movies. Rounding out the talented trio is Max Borenstein, who while is somewhat of a newcomer to Hollywood is already winning awards for his screenwriting and wrote the upcoming movie The Seventh Son featuring Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore. While there is no word yet on who may be starring in the movie, with the talent already behind the creation of the movie it’s bound to attract more than a few A-list actors to the project.
Godzilla has been rampaging since 1954, has been killed more times than Jason Vorhees and Freddy Krueger combined and is still going strong. He has been featured in dozens of projects from movies, television and video games to comic books and novels. Proving that you can’t keep a good dinosaur down Godzilla’s back and ready to remind us what a real movie monster is.
About Shannon Chrismon
Shannon likes to think of herself as a Renaissance woman. She enjoys learning and will seek out new information if only for the purpose of knowing it. Curiosity surely hasn't killed this cat but it has definitely filled her head with volumes of random trivia and nerdy conversation starters. She enjoys literature of all types and at any given time could be found reading anything from the latest Dean Koontz novel, to this month's Deadpool, or even a collection of Richard Feynman lectures. She shares her little corner of the world with boyfriend Mike, lucky to have found someone who likes a girl with lot of nerd DNA.
