Hulk is already the strongest force in the Marvel Universe. His strength is only limited by how angry he gets. His alter ego, Bruce Banner is one of the smartest people on the planet. After the soft reboot, Marvel NOW, Hulk and Banner will be combined and turned into the smartest, strongest being out there.
What I’m concerned with is this is not a new idea. Banner and Hulk have combined their respective strengths many times before and it never worked. Hulk fans call this combination Professor Hulk and it is a boring read. There needs to be a difference between the two and to take that away, it takes away the fun of it.
What may make it work is how they execute it. In recent story lines, Banner stopped being an angst ridden individual. Instead, he became a cold and calculating menace who’s been using the Hulk to advance some unknown agenda. If that theme and storyline continues, then this new Hulk might be an interesting story.
Indestructible Hulk 1, will relaunch on November 1, 2012.
