Preview: Castle’s Storm Season

Castle, or that show starring that Firefly guy, is about a writer and his rather interesting life. The graphic novel is not about him and his modern variant of Murder, She Wrote. Instead, Storm Season is about his fictional character Derrick Storms, whose life is just as, if not more interesting as Castle’s.

Set in the world of Derrick Storms, Storm Season is the graphic novel “adaptation” of Castle’s second nook. In the graphic novel, Derrick is hired to find a missing woman, but being the perennial nice guy, he acts to his better nature and pays for it. He gets wrapped up in an international conspiracy far bigger than he could imagine.

The blockbuster writing duo of Brian Michael Bendis and Kelly Sue DeConnick reunite for their second Castle story along with red-hot artist Emanuela Lupacchino in Castle: Richard Castle’s Storm Season, on sale in comic shops, the Marvel Comics app, iBookstore, Nook Bookstore and everywhere books are sold on October 15th, 2012.

I have to admit, this premise reminds of Murder, She Wrote. Although most of the episodes were about Jessica Fletcher solving crimes, there were several where Jessica breaks the fourth wall and reads her latest book. This graphic novel is an updated version of that same premise.

About Joseph Furguson

This child of the 80s does not look upon it as some gold age where everything is better. He is well aware that the filter of time causes the best stuff to rise to the top. Every era has terrible and awesome things, but most are downright mediocre. He loves to highlight the forgotten good and the deserving bad items of all generations.
