Rob Liefeld and Scott Snyder Twitter War!

Another chapter in the Rob Liefeld story has been written in the most literal sense as Rob took it upon himself to attack the success of Scott Snyder and his Batman series on twitter saying “It’s not you. It never has been. It’s Batman.” From what I have heard, Scott tried to keep this a private matter but Rob decided everyone should know.

I am by no means taking sides or judging anyone, I am just doing my best to report the facts as I am a fan of both of these guys and it’s a shame that all this went down like it did.

I don’t know what will happen next in this comic drama but it goes to show you how the internet has turned what were personal matters that no one would’ve known about into a public dirt slinging contest that is very unfortunate because, as I said, I am a fan of both parties and admire their work very much.

Ok, I’m going to put a couple excerpts from this conversation and I use that term lightly. So brace yourself because it’s kinda raw.

About Michael Turner

Mike is a construction foreman by day but at night he is either working on his art or writing for Word of the Nerd. In between he is running around Gotham wreaking havok in Arkham city or adding to his extensive comic and figure collection. Mike is a hardcore Star Wars fan who often recites lines from the movies in relation to events of everyday life and knows the Sith code as he is a dedicated fan of Star Wars novels especially when they are about Sithlords. One of Mikes philosophies is that if you aren't learning something new everyday then you're doing something wrong.

  1. Unless something massive has happened behind the scenes I can’t understand where Liefeld’s is coming from. Snyder is always a nice bloke on twitter and having met him and had a beer with the guy he is and didn’t seem at all egotistical. And, let’s be honest he could be as his work on Batman is incredible!! Good on you for not taking sides, but I am! Snyder rules.

I wouldn’t say I “know” Scott Snyder, but I have spoken to him on a number of occasions and he has always been an extremely nice guy. Never met Liefeld, and I hate to take sides but I am with Scott on this one. This is a matter that should have stayed private and not happened on Twitter for all to read. Liefeld made a real dick and classless move.

  3. This just makes me sad. Snyder always seemed so humble in interviews. I wish I had more context here, but without it…it SEEMS like Liefeld is getting the impression that Snyder is lording success over other people.

But you shouldn’t compare yourself to others really. Just do the best job you can and be done with it. If your best is better than someone else’s, maybe it will spur them on to be better than they currently are. We are all in this together!!!

You all make very good points and I’ll put it this way, I did kind of lie about taking sides but I feel having been the one to write the article it was best to remain neutral for the sake of the article itself. I felt I should report the news without being one sided on the story. I just met Scott a couple months ago and he was a really cool guy. I have’nt met Liefeld but have always admired his work.

Have to laugh at the guy who called the 90s the “Comic Book Revolution”
