Executive producer Bruce Timm announced the upcoming releases in DC’s line of animated films. With Batman: Year One due out in October, fans at the SDCC discussion panel were surprised by next years scheduled releases.
The next film due out will be Justice League: Doom. It will be based on JLA: Tower of Babel and was written by the late Dwayne McDuffie. I have been eager for a new Justice League movie since Crisis on Two Earths.
Next up will be Superman Versus The Elite. There are few details on this feature so far, but rumor is it will be based on Superman: What’s So Funny About Truth, Justice and the American Way one shot. I have been somewhat disappointed with the Superman releases to date, I hope that this one is an improvement.
Last up and probably the most exciting will be Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. Based on Frank Miller’s groundbreaking graphic novel. This feature will be the team’s first attempt at a two part feature. Bruce Timm said during the panel that it will stay true to Miller’s source material. Both parts will be released during 2012.
About Bryan Brown
The Nerd – Or Bryan as many of us call him is the creative inspiration of Word of the Nerd. His tireless work makes all this possible. He rules with an iron fist…not really…he’s a great boss and even better leader. He can often be found lurking over our shoulders or in his local comic book store. Bryan is an all around nerd, from Star Trek to comic books to collecting action figures. If it's nerd related, he's into it or at least has an opinion on it..

Great news. I'm looking forward to it. Your blog is terrific!
