Skullkickers #18 Features a Fan Written Story

Knowing that one team cannot write and draw all ass kicking, Skullkickers creative team decided to make issue 18 an anthology issue. In Tavern Tales, some of the best and brightest of Image comics will have a chance to write and draw a story set in the universe.

Included in the mix are John Layman and Rob Guillory (CHEW), Justin Jordan and Tradd Moore (THE STRANGE TALENT OF LUTHER STRODE), Blair Butler (HEART), Charles Soule (27), and J. Torres (Teen Titans Go!, Batman: The Brave and the Bold).

Even more amazing is one of the stories belong to a contest winner. Earlier this year Jim Zub announced the contest. Draw a 2 page spread based on a writing sample at Skullkickers website. If the staff deemed it best, your story and artwork will be featured in the anthology issue. After some long deliberation discussion, they narrowed the choice to the two lucky fans.

According to Creator Jim Zubb, the final decision was hard.

“With over 300 entries, it was incredibly difficult narrowing it down to one writer and one artist, but in the end Aubrey Sitterson and Ivan Anya popped to the top of their respective groups and their short story collaboration is going to knock people out!”

To see more of their artwork, along with the other creative team’s contributions, remember to purchase Skullkickers 18 on September 26.

About Joseph Furguson

This child of the 80s does not look upon it as some gold age where everything is better. He is well aware that the filter of time causes the best stuff to rise to the top. Every era has terrible and awesome things, but most are downright mediocre. He loves to highlight the forgotten good and the deserving bad items of all generations.
