With all the excitement and hype surrounding Irrational Games‘ latest Bioshock Infinite, it’s comforting to know it finally has a release date: October 16, 2012.
Bioshock Infinite takes the original Bioshock formula and literally turns it on its head, going from deep underwater to adventures a city floating on zeppelins in the high skies above a early 1900′s America. Sound crazy? It should, and so did the original Bioshock, which released to critical acclaim and near instant cult status. Bioshock Infinite sets out to examine societal themes of the early 1900′s in a twisted, isolated city above the clouds, where a civil war runs rampant amidst the people. Players take control of Booker DeWitt, an investigator sent to rescue a woman held captive in the city for 12 years.
Ken Levine, studio head and creative lead at Irrational Games, had this to say about the release date announcement:
“After BioShock, we had a vision for a follow up that dwarfed the original in scope and ambition. BioShock Infinite has been our sole focus for the last four years, and we can’t wait for fans to get their hands on it.”
Gamers and critics alike are foaming at the mouth to get their hands on this one, and the announcement of an October release date only makes the wait a bit harder, albeit worth it in the end!
