Uncanny Avengers #1 to Launch With 12 Covers

Covers, covers, covers everywhere. Uncanny Avengers #1, the flagship book for Marvel NOW! Relaunch, will be released with 12 different covers.

Marvel seem to be taking a leaf from The Walking Dead #100 which had a similar amount of covers and is now the best selling comic of the century. Expect this to be big for Marvel and their market share.

Although this number is confirmed, all of the cover artists have not, nor has what they will have on them. We do know quite a bit already though.

First, we have the original John Cassaday cover, an Adi Granow cover and a Daniel Acuna cover. But that is where the artists fade off.

After that there are an Avengers cover, X-Men cover, a blank variant, a baby variant cover to fit in with A-Babies Vs X-Babies, a “Call me maybe” Deadpool cover, and finally, a few sketch covers to make up the numbers.

Few! That went on a little while. All these covers seem a little excessive but some fans will undoubtedly buy all of them, making Marvel some hefty money.

Do you think it is right that one book should have so many covers? How many will you buy? Are Marvel milking this a little?

Aspen Comics Releases For WonderCon 2012

With WonderCon 2012 only a week away, fans know some good stuff is on the horizon. Well, Aspen Comics has just let us here at the Word of the Nerd know about some of the creators and launches they have ready for the event.

Some of the big name creators you will find over at Aspen Comics’ Booth #510 over the weekend are as follows.
First let’s start off with the busload of creators Frank Mastromauro, Peter Steigerwald, Vince Hernandez, Mark Roslan, Joe Benitez, J.T. Krul, David Wohl, Oliver Nome, Beth Sotelo, David Schwartz, and Scott Lobdell. But it doesn’t end there! They claim that even “more surprise guests will be signing comics and meeting fans at the booth all weekend long.” Aspen fans… are you still breathing?

With all of these creators and surprise guests, there must be some new stuff to promote, right? Of course! First off in the launch news is Aspen’s brand new miniseries called Fathom: Kiani.

Fathom: Kiani centers on the popular Fathom heroine in a return to her own series in this brand-new storyline. The exclusive Fathom: Kiani #0 WonderCon 2012 edition features a cover by superstar artists Benitez and Steigerwald, and is limited to only 500 copies.

Feast your eyes on this:

The WonderCon will also have an extra special treat for Fathom fans. Limited to only 500 copies, Fathom #5 Wondercon Exclusive 2012 contains one of the most popular sketch covers of all time by series and Aspen founder Michael Turner along with Peter Steigerwald.

Fathom #5 WonderCon Exclusive 2012And if you haven’t already reached your eye-candy limit (I know… ridiculous proposition, there are no limits to such things!), Aspen will also be releasing this year’s Aspen Tour Print, another item fans are strongly encouraged to pick up early as supplies last.

Aspen WonderCon 2012 TourOnce you’ve gathered all of your goodies and met all the creators, there’s only one thing left: panels! Aspen will be holding their Official Aspen Comics Panel in room 203 on Saturday from 3-4pm. There you will find the entire Aspen team of creators giving sneak peaks of titles, art and all fans in attendance will receive a free gift from Aspen Comics.

Now that you know everything you need to in order to get all of your Aspen Comics gear, it’s time to get packing for the con! If you don’t know where to begin, I highly recommend fellow Nerd, Chris Tresson’s Nerd How: The Convention Survival Kit.
