Mid-May in the Motor City means just one thing, the Motor City Comic Con! The line, when I arrived on Sunday, was around the building at the Suburban Collection Showplace. The nerds were as brightly colored as their sugary candy namesakes. You could feel the energy in the crowd. The excitement that only a true collector or fan feels was apparent. There was a buzz in the crowd as they waited knowing that they were about to dig through long boxes, or meet a longtime hero or childhood idol. For the last three days the heroes and idols were in Novi, Michigan.
Comic Relief from Flint, MI
The inside was packed solid with nerds, geeks, fans, and kids all slack-jawed as they wandered through the various booths. Dozens of vendors, mostly from Ohio and Michigan, were in attendance including my friends from Comic Relief in Flint, Michigan. Rob was hurriedly helping several customers at a time, while Lou was talking comic lore with anyone who had an opinion. Other vendors were hawking their wares from candy, to comics, to clothing, and more. The back half of the building was full of creators, mostly artists sketching and signing for lines of people who patiently waited. Well known creators such as George Perez, Yanick Paquette, Talent Caldwell, and Ale’ Garcia were holding court. The most anticipated attendee, by far, was “The Man” himself, Stan Lee.
Stan Lee
The creator of such integral works as Spider-Man, Thor, The X-Men, Iron Man, and Hulk among many others, met with fans, signed autographs, and spoke at one of the panels on Saturday. The remains of his presence, left behind by the throngs of fans who lined up to catch a glimpse, or even get a picture from afar, was still apparent a day later. Much like the buzz that Stan created on Saturday, the star of Sunday had to be Norman Reedus. Reedus, best known for his current character Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead, was surrounded by a line of fans seeking autographs that was reportedly four hours long at one point. It was so long, in fact, that Reedus was unable to attend the Boondock Saints panel with co-stars Sean Patrick Flanery and David Della Rocco. In Reedus’s absence Flanery carried the panel answering questions and regaling us with behind the scenes stories from Boondock Saints. He couldn’t say much about his upcoming role in the critically acclaimed series Dexter, but he did confirm that Boondock Saints 3 is happening. He speculated that it would see a late 2014 release!
Norman Reedus, The Walking Dead
Aside from Lee and Reedus other celebrities were in abundance. TV stars from every recent decade like Erika Eleniak (Baywatch), Erin Gray (Buck Rogers), Adrian Paul (Highlander) and Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica) lined the tables greeting fans of all ages. Lauren Holly (Dumb and Dumber), Margot Kidder (Superman), and the Kings of the Nerds themselves Curtis Armstrong and Robert Carradine were among the Movie Stars to make an appearance. As packed as the venue was today, the lines were relatively short, except for Reedus. This was likely due to the sheer volume of models, athletes, and other celebrities who attended the event.
Curtis Armstrong and Robert Carradine
You don’t have to be a big time celebrity to make your mark at a Comic Convention. Careers have started at various shows, across the country, over the years. If my twins have a vote, it would be for William Stolpin, a Holly, Michigan native who specializes in architectural, fantasy, and dragon-based artwork that really impressed the twelve-year-old girls. The Motor City Comic Con was their first comic convention and they had a great time. Maybe next year I’ll get them to dress the part. I won’t hold my breath!
Written and Drawn by: Erik Evensen, Letters by Matt Talbot, and Colors by Jeff Fugelsang
Erik created a serene little town. An out-of-the-way, woodsy town, that you can find all over America. It reminds me a lot of Upper Peninsula Michigan or other seaside towns along the Great Lakes. Hart College is the focal point of the beginning of the story. It’s a small college full of small people trying to get by. The students goof off and the professors shake their heads in wonderment at how their parents continue to foot the bill.
Wolfe’s Bay
Evensen’s The Beast of Wolfe’s Bay is a very interesting take on the Beowulf legend and characters. Winifred “Freddie” Roth is an amalgam of Beowulf characters. Evensen himself explains in his closing notes that, “Her [Winfred's] role takes on qualities of Wealtheow, Hrothgar’s wife, Freawaru, Hrothgar’s daughter, and Wiglaf, Beowulf’s soldier, along with a bit of Beowulf himself.” In the story she is a tenure track professor who nobody seems to take very seriously, at first. The same can be said about Brian Wegman, a nerdy, slacking doctoral candidate. He struggles to find any passion in his life or work. He is an unlikely version of our hero Beowulf in this version, which I think is a very unique take on the character. It says a lot about the capacity of people for heroic behavior when the circumstances warrant. The story really starts for me when Freddie and Brian meet.
Freddie Roth and Brian Wegman
Freddie’s Father is the local Sheriff Gary Roth, even his name tells you that he is Hrothgar in this tale. He brings his daughter and Brian together to consult on the case of a strange double murder near Hart Lake. Evensen’s knowledge about folklore, anthropology, and even forensic science, is very apparent in his writing, but he makes it accessible. He doesn’t write so far above the reader’s head that they get lost or bored. His dialogue flows nicely, whether its technical jargon, or the competitive banter between Brian and Freddie. You feel the passion that each of the main characters feels toward their science. No one in the story seems to believe that the deaths could be the result of a Bigfoot or Wendigo, although the evidence seems to lead you down that path. Freddie and Brian do a great job of weaving the folklore and science into plausible human answers to seemingly impossible evidence. Overall, the writing is smart, but not over-bearing. By the end of the story I really felt like I knew and understood most of the characters.
Sheriff Roth, Deputy Coroner Humphries, Sheriff Tony Asher
The art, also done by Evensen, is solid. He does a very nice job of conveying emotion in the faces of his characters. It’s fairly simple, but crisp work, that definitely helps tell the story. The artwork is reminiscent of Charlie Adlard‘s work on the Walking Dead, but includes the added dimension of color. He even does a nice job with most of the background work, especially when they are outside. Unfortunately, the climactic scenes happen in caves, which leaves little in the backgrounds, and takes something away from the action.
Brian and Freddie enjoy the competitive banter
I really had no idea what to expect when I took on this review, but, I really liked this story, and felt a bit of deja vu the whole time. It wasn’t until I read Evensen’s closing notes, and realized the homage to Beowulf, that I fully grasped the reason for my feeling. I immediately read the story again and thoroughly enjoyed the references, veiled or more obvious. The dialogue was fun, informative, and most importantly accessible. I liked the characters and really wouldn’t mind seeing them again, as was teased at the end. The art added to the story and certainly didn’t distract me by failing to match up with the dialogue. This Graphic Novel was at least partially funded by Kickstarter. I’m always impressed by creators with the confidence and perseverance to go to any lengths to achieve their dreams. This book is further proof that there is a lot of good work out there that we may never see unless the creators find ways of “crowd-funding” their projects. Give The Beast of Wolfe’s Bay a chance, you won’t regret it. I didn’t!
Proffitt, Bex and (sometimes) Courtney welcome special guest Mr. Bex to part 1 of their spoiler-filled Waking Dead Finale discussion. Things get deep, folks. The ladies and gent discuss nature vs nurture in the formation of evil, the sad fact that Carl had a point, and whether or not we all “have some [...]
After the smash success that was 2012′s The Walking Dead, Telltale’s next gaming venture has a lot to live up to. Fortunately for the fans, Telltale Games has been planning a video game based around the Fables comic series since 2011. But now we have a title: The Wolf Among Us.
The Vertigo comic series has won fourteen Eisner Awards, and follows the lives of fairy tale characters stranded in the “real world.” The game will focus on the character of Bigby Wolf, better known as the Big Bad Wolf. In the Fables universe, he works as a detective, and the game will follow him as he attempts to keep fairy tale characters such as the Three Little Pigs in hiding.
Developing The Wolf Among Us based on the Fables universe has allowed our studio to build upon all of the hallmarks of what makes our episodic series so engaging for players. Through an evolution of our approach to choice and consequence, we can further explore the complexity of each and every iconic character in a universe rich with untold history from the darkest sides of the storybooks.
Judging by the art released, it appears that The Wolf Among Us will follow in the same cell-shaded and inked comic look of The Walking Dead. The dark themes in the previous game are certain to make a return as well, if the source graphic novel is any indication.
Look for The Wolf Among Us on all platforms in Fall of 2013.
Bex, Proffitt and Courtney welcome VERY special guest, Geri to the podcast! Geri was one of Good Girls Gone Geek’s first fans, and she is a fellow Walking Dead and Supernatural enthusiast. After the traditional “ways in which we know we are getting older” discussion, the ladies discuss Andrea and The Governor, Sam [...]
Proffitt, Bex and Courtney are forced to confront the fact that the “girls” in Good Girls Gone Geek might better be replaced with “geriatrics.” Bifocals and shingles are just the beginning of the perils they face as they inch closer and closer to the big 4-0. Also, Courtney forgives Proffitt for leaving the iPhone [...]
No topic is off limits tonight, folks! From working out to The Walking Dead, Proffitt, Bex and Courtney host another hour of fun times. Plus, we discuss our first tangible proof that we have listeners! Huzzah!
No longer content with opining exclusively about The Walking Dead and Downton Abbey, Bex, Proffitt and Courtney take on the powerful appeal of infomercials, the lack of rooms suitable for reading in Las Vegas, and The Evil League of Television Writers (presumably lead by Joss Whedon and Julian Fellows). And, of course, they talking about The Walking Dead and Downton Abbey.
The Walking Dead is back, and that’s hella exciting. Proffitt, Bex and Courtney are apparently just as excited about The Talking Dead, as they spend much time discussing the ways in which Kevin Smith and Courtney think alike and the ways in which Steven Yeun rocks. Then, it’s all Walking Dead theories all [...]
Proffitt does funny voices! Bex loves Daryl Dixon! Courtney gets turned into a robot! And special guest Rebecca causes confusion by having the same name as Bex, but she’s awesome so we’re OK with it!
On this episode of Film Fans, Sam and Sean discuss the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead. Sean really enjoyed the intense ride of the episode, while Sam wasn’t as blown away. Though they both speculate on what the rest of the season will bring and make a few predictions. They then move onto movie/tv
Christmas is right around the corner. I’ve been cranking Guster’s Tiny Tree (a few years later and that Target commercial still makes me cry). Proffitt and I are almost done with Christmas cards and still racking our brains for last minute gift ideas so you might not have to. We promise a broad range of prices because frankly, we hate those magazine gift lists that assume we all have $100+ to spend on everyone in our lives. It’s more about the thought and the personal touch than the dollars, anyway.
From Bex:
Every nerd we know is either a lover of Star Wars or knows someone who is. There is no lack of Star Wars branded merchandise, but it is rare to find something so classy and cool.
For day 12, I present (pun intended)
Star Wars cufflinks with a palladium coating from Neiman Marcus for about $125. Now if you search for these online, you can find them at other price points but I saw them at Neiman first. Throw in some chocolate chip cookies for yourself and it’s a successful day of shopping.
Day 11. Not every writer is a Neil Gaiman, but if you know someone who loves to write by hand, keeps a journal, or fancies writing letters, you can’t go wrong with the Pilot Varsity disposable real fountain pens. I am yet to commit to the hefty price tag of a serious fountain pen (mainly because I am a loser of favorite pens), but I have tried lots of disposable ones and the majority are crappy. The Varsity, used in Sex and the City by Carrie Bradshaw, is a gem. For about $21 at Staples you can get a variety pack of colors in these handy, fluid, smooth writing pens. I’ve had mine for about two years and they are just as fresh as when I first used them. The colors are vibrant and make writing fun. Add a nice little notebook, stationary (Italian paper is a dream to write on, hint hint), or a carrying case and you’ve got a fully loaded gift to impress that creative someone.
Day 10.Listography book/journals by Lisa Nola. I received My Future Listography a few weeks ago for my birthday and in an odd turn of events, it has provided me with both comfort and inspiration during this crazy month. It’s fun to think about future Halloween costume ideas, changes you’d like to see in the world, places you’d like to spend the night, other lives you’d like to lead if you had 9 lives, etc. I’d liken it to a journal for writing commitment-phobes. Nola has listographies focused on movies, music, your love life and more. Great for inspiring a group discussion or personal reflection, these can be found at the Chronicle Books website and are priced at a $16.95 . And as an aside, I love Chronicle Books. They had me hooked since publishing the interactive Griffin and Sabine love stories. If you are ever stumped for gift ideas, just look through their website.
From Proffitt:
Spoiler Alert: Bex’s Christmas present may or may not be included below. (Hint: it totally is).
Day 9.Funko POP figures, The Walking Dead. I mean…I just…look at how adorable these things are! While I’m a little bummed we can’t get the whole crew (yet…?), I can tell you that as soon as I saw these on Amazon.com I scooped up all four of the available dolls – Rick, Daryl, Bicycle Girl Walker and RV-Walker. Why two walkers, but no Glen? Who can say? I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for future additions. When I purchased these, the Daryl Dixon doll was no more expensive than any of the others, but it looks like that has changed! I don’t know if these are limited edition, or if there will be more Daryls released later, but you might want to get him while you can. (Don’t worry Bex, I’m sure you’ve put it together by now – I’ve got you covered on this one).
Day 8. Funko POP Game of Thrones figures. OK, I’m a little obsessed here. I haven’t bought these yet, but they are the only thing besides books and a hair dryer on my Amazon wishlist, so fingers-crossed! Again, some of the choices baffle (No Jon Snow?! Who is picking these things?), but the sorrowful look on tiny Sandor Clegane makes me so happy/sad. I’ma give him some hot chocolate! Figures included: Daenerys Targaryen, Khal Drogo, Eddard Stark, Sandor Clegane (The Hound), White Walker, and Tyrion Lannister.
OK, OK, these aren’t in any way geeky or nerdy. They’re just fun. Urban Decay makes quality stuff and their eye makeup is particularly awesome. If your lady friend likes getting dolled up for a night on the town, she might enjoy these. I’m in love with the colors.
From Bex:
Day 6. Everyone has that quirky friend that is hard to buy for. Fashion forward and fun, what can you get her that she doesn’t already have? A fabulous handcrafted comic book inspired accessory. Go to Etsy and search “Pow headband” and you will find such delightful gifts like this from JanineBasil for about $25 US dollars plus shipping. She’s in London but the shipping isn’t that pricey and there are other crafters who have similar products at different price points so there is probably a seller near you. Or be inspired to start creating your own designs.
Day 5. We just love her and she’ll probably always be on our gift list. GeekSoap. She frequently rolls out new designs and right now the Dragon Warrior Slime soap is just gushing with adorableness.
There is a soap for almost any nerd/geek you know and love like D20 Soap on a rope , our favorite houses from Game of Thrones soaps , adorable tentacled cephalosoaps , manly smelling Mustache soap and so much more. The scents are light and not overpowering. I have uber sensitive skin and using these vegan formulas did not irritate me at all. We can’t say enough good things about Lesley and her products. And at $6-7 price ranges plus some $5 sale items, you can buy every geek or non geek on your list some soap.
Day 4. An Umbrella umbrella from Thinkgeek.com. Thank you to friend of GGGG Scott K for even making me aware of such awesomeness.. Chances are it won’t be back in stock for the holidays, but it’s on here because gamers, movie fans, and those who like good design can appreciate this umbrella. It’s useful, kicky, looks great and maybe worth the wait.
Alternate Day 4. Also from Thinkgeek.com, at long last a blue canary night light. Who does not fondly remember that They Might Be Giants song and love it? The description on this item alone made me want to buy it and at $12.99, why not? Include with it a note that reads “Say I’m the only bee in your bonnet” and you have a gift to make the right lady/fella swoon and think you are the bees’ knees. There’s also a nifty looking Tardis night light that deserves honorable mention.
From Proffitt:
Day 3. SHARK SOCKS. For all you knitters out there, this post will show you all the details up close so you can give your favorite Jaws/Shark Week fan a pair of shark socks to wear…around the house, I guess. Unlikely they will fit into any shoes. Plus, they’d probably just eat right through them anyway (ba-dum-ching!)
Of course, you don’t have to knit sharks specifically. We’ve seen hand-knit Tardises, Jayne hats, even Zombies. If you’ve got the needle-skills, knitting something specifically targeted to your friends may be just the budget-friendly idea you’ve been looking for.
Day 2. Nostalgia toys! Especially good for anyone 30+, find some old toys, video games, or gadgets from their youth. One of my favorite recent memories was playing through the original Super Mario Bros on a friend’s Nintendo. If someone gave me an actual Easy Bake Oven, I’d probably marry him. Don’t have the time, the money, or the parent’s basement to ransack for originals? No problem. The nostalgia thing is hot right now. You can find Rubik’s Cubes in toy stores again, and old-school video and board games are out there, too. Maybe throw in some Pop Rocks and Candy Cigarettes (oh, they still make ‘em) and make a gift-basket with a 80s or 90s theme. Man…I’m loving this idea. I’m taking this one for myself!
Day 1. The Walking Dead from Telltale Games
I know, I know. I’m Walking Dead obsessed right now. I just love it so much. Also, this game is getting phenomenal reviews.
That’s it for our 2012 gift recommendations! Hope we helped you check some folks off your list. Please share your recommendations with us, too!
Proffitt, Bex, and Courtney are in rare form as they discuss the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead and Kosher wine. We’re not sure of the connection either, but they seem to be having fun with it, so we’ll go with it. Proffitt swears a bit in this one, so don’t listen with
Today we have a special episode of Gamer’s Word, where we discuss one video game in particular, The Walking Dead: The Game. Sean is joined by his friend Dave, and Word of the Nerd writer and Gamer’s Word regular Jack, and they get down to discussing, not just the epic finale that was available for
In this episode of Film Fans, Sean is joined by Word of the Nerd folks Honor Knight and Proffitt. They kick things off with the Walking Dead talk, and discuss the shows change from the original source material. They also briefly discuss the newest cast member and the character he will be portraying. Then, still
Its the Sean and Jack show on this episode of Gamer’s Word! Since both of them are keeping busy with Assassins Creed 3, they have yet to ply any of the newer releases, but that doesn’t stop them from discussing the hottest items on the market. They first discuss the incredible line-ups that were seen
Bex, Proffitt and Courtney discuss Walking Dead episodes The Killer Within and Say the Word; for the most part, they manage not to cry. Bonus material – Skyfall! The Twelve! Tequila!
So, you have a hit comic that is then made into an even more popular TV series, what do you do next? Why not do as so many others have done before and make a magazine about your hit comic and TV series? Well that’s what the Walking Dead boys have gone and done.
Like almost every other series you can see or read, Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead released its official magazine last month to add to this ever-growing franchise. The magazine is said to feature cast and crew interviews and supply the reader with all they need to know about the comic or TV series, so if simply watching/reading them is not enough for you anymore, then this is the mag for you. Think of it as DVD special features you read that constantly updates on a monthly basis both in print and digital forms.
“This magazine will be your one-stop destination for all the news pertaining to the comic, TV show, video games, and whatever else exists in the ever-expanding Walking Dead universe!” – Robert Kirkman
With the TV series into its massively popular third season and the comics just tipping over issue #100, this freight train full of rotting walking corpses shows no sign of slowing. But, if you think about it, we’ve seen it all before. There have been almost countless zombie apocalypse comics, movies, etc., so what makes this so different?
If you look at the franchise from a purely logical perspective there is nothing that makes this franchise stand apart from other recent zombie-based stuff. All are based on the survivor/group of survivors struggling to stay alive in a world gone dead, no real explanation for the outbreak of zombies, the survivors look for a safe haven, never finding any and going to extreme lengths to live. Take this simple formula and repeat to create your own hit zombie franchise. So again, why is this one so popular?

There is no doubt that both the comic and TV show are very well written with some great characters, but so were others that came before. The art in the books is incredible, but again, nothing new there. The actors in the TV series are all amazing and the likenesses to the comic characters is phenomenal, but this again is nothing new. I suspect that it was simply a case of coming out at the right time that catapulted this highly addictive franchise into the hearts and minds of millions, me among them. I have no doubt that this new addition will follow in this popularity.
Three episodes into The Walking Deadseason three and the panicky sense of foreboding is sinking in. Having read Robert Kirkman’s comic books, I am mired in the horrific possibilities of loss of limbs and cast members. If you haven’t caught up on this season yet, there will be spoilers.
Rick’s crew all together, all alive, and running like a well-oiled machine.
At the end of season two, we left Rick and his group seemingly irreparably splintered with the group feeling betrayed by Rick (with the notable exceptions of Daryl and possibly Hershel). Could they be safe anywhere in this new zombie-plagued world? And poor Andrea, she was mistakenly left behind to fend off the zombie herd in the woods until her rescue by Michonne.
Season three kicked off with the episode “Seed.” Fans of Robert Kirkman’s comic book may have been surprised at how quick season three moved to the prison. Starting at the prison certainly kicks things off with a bang, but it was sad to see some of the great comic book moments that took place on their journey from Hershel’s farm to the prison cut. The survivors of herd-ageddon are definitely following Rick’s lead and Rick seems set on keeping some semblance of humanity. Rick slaps a can of dog food out of Carl’s hands as he tries to open it for food and Carol says to Daryl “Rick has gotten us farther than I thought he could.”
What will happen when/if Daryl and Merle are reunited? Will they hug it out, or will there be fisticuffs?
Once the group starts clearing out the fenced prison yard, we see them fighting as a cohesive, well practiced unit. Happily, Carol has stepped up and become a good shot (mostly; there was a close call with Rick). Carl has become a fighting part of the group as well in spite of his young age. But Carl may be getting too confident as he runs off alone to get medical supplies and smack talks his mom. And my favorite, Daryl, when he is not fighting, is usually shown apart from the group, keeping watch. He is definitely a valued member of the group, but his kept distance further supports his social awkwardness and possible low self esteem. It’s little touches like that, that make the writers on this show so good. They pay attention to who the characters are and we get to watch them subtly change over time in a true to life fashion.
Lori and Rick’s relationship is now fractured, more so than the season 2 finale let on. If the reason is Shane, Lori pulling away from Rick at the end of season 2, some other event during the interim, or a combination, we don’t know yet. Carl, and I think most of the viewers, have definitely taken Rick’s side in the argument. The others so far seem to be impartial. But even with Rick and Lori’s issues, it’s nice to see they are still working together. Just when the group feels potentially safe as they each grab a prison cell, and Hershel talks about planting crops in the yard, we remember Maggie’s question earlier in the episode: they mistakenly thought they were safe on the Greene’s farm, and how could they allow themselves the same luxury again? But it looks as if they are allowing themselves to get settled and feel safe.
In the second episode, “Sick,” Rick is forced to make another harsh, snap decision for the overall safety of his group (like cutting Hershel’s leg off wasn’t bad and bloody enough). One of the three prisoners they come upon during the impromptu amputation of Hershel’s bitten leg is obviously not a team player. Prisoner Thomas was a little too zealous when killing possibly infected Big Tiny and Daryl took note, telling Rick “Just give me a sign.” And when Thomas intentionally throws a zombie on Rick, almost immediately after, Rick chose to take Thomas out himself. After the events in “Nebraska,”’ it is no surprise that Rick could do that. The real surprise and clue that Rick has changed is that after chasing a prisoner who ran away out of fear, Rick locks him out in the yard with the zombies. Why this was necessary, if it was necessary, is up for debate, but Rick didn’t seem too shaken up about it; maybe because as a police officer and a father, you make snap decisions you can’t regret for the safety of those you are bound to protect.
Now there are two prisoners left, that we know about. We don’t know their stories yet or what their crimes were. Can they be trusted? Right now Rick is willing to share part of the prison, but we’ll see how long that lasts or if they get to become part of Rick’s group. And who was staring at Carol from the woods? A third unseen prisoner or someone from the Governor’s camp? In the first two episodes we only get a brief glimpse at Andrea and Michonne. Andrea is sick and obviously Michonne has been taking care of her and they’ve forged a successful alliance, so far.
Episode 3, “Walk With me,” is the first episode Rick is absent from. The entire episode is Andrea and Michonne’s storyline. I did miss seeing what was going on at the prison but next week looks like a heck of an episode. Most of my favorite shows this year are telling two or more sides of a story, Last Resort, Once Upon a Time, Revolution. I hope they can all keep it up without getting too tangled.
The Governor – can you smell the crazy?
In “Walk With Me,” we finally meet the much anticipated Governor, who won’t share his real name, and by episode’s end, we know he’s going to be more trouble and danger than the zombies (hello, zombie head aquarium). The comic book Governor is a bit less fancified (I personally always envisioned Danny Trejo while reading the comics) than David Morrissey’s Governor. It’s a good change that works in this television story. His more white collar appearance will make Andrea’s trust of him more understandable. But what are The Governor’s motivations? Control and power? Vengeance? What is the purpose of the zombie experiments they are doing in Woodsbury? It is interesting that he isn’t just having others do the wetwork for him, he’s getting blood on his hands directly, opening fire on the army himself. A few of the men who are following him and getting their hands dirty do seem to have a look of remorse in their eyes, I can only wonder why they are following him on this immoral path. But one or two may be enjoying it. Merle certainly is. But the other people of Woodbury, are they happy with the Governor’s leadership? Will mankind just fall for anything to feel safe even if it is a false sense of security? History has shown entire populations will bow to evil men if the trains are on time and there is bread.
And this has to be said, Andrea is admirable for being strong, taking a stand against being stuck doing the household chores because she’s female, but that woman has bad instincts. She actually wants to give Woodbury a chance? And she certainly was loquacious to Merle telling him all about Hershel’s farm as Michonne looked on like “You need to shut your mouth.” Added to that, Andrea also has bad taste in men if she going to go from Shane to some entanglement with the Governor that has been hinted about.
Upcoming episodes are sure to be action filled and tense. How soon with the Governor and Rick meet, when Daryl is inevitably reunited with Merle, how far will he be tested with team allegiance vs. blood? And if you are familiar with the comic books, you know their fellow man is the survivors’ worst enemy, not the zombies. Season three is surely going to make the past two look like a cakewalk.
How are you liking this season? Do you like the comic book storyline or this one better? What do you think the purpose of the zombie head aquarium is? Are you sad Michonne took down her pets?
