Insert Credits (1)
Today…..Well I guess the other day, marks the first official showing of Inset Credits. Insert Credits is a video blog started by myself to entertain the masses! In the episodes I will talk about personal interest, video games, comic books, and many other nerdy topics, and no I will not show you how to put on makeup. Anyways the episodes will be labeled with a (0), (1), (2), and so on to indicate what episode you are on. This is the first time I have ever tried anything like this. (When I say this I mean video, video editing, sound sync, different video effects and things of that nature.) As time goes on I hope to get better in all areas to bring you guys better shows.
So sit back and enjoy Insert Credits (1)
Nostalgia #6 Worms
Welcome to the fifth issue of Nostalgia! Let me explain a little bit about what Nostalgia is. Nostalgia is an idea that came from the creative depths of my little mind that lets me bring back one retro game from the past to you guys! When I say past, I mean anything from the original Pong all the way up to good ol’ Playstation classics. If your one to yearn for the past than you can’t miss an Issue of Nostalgia!
WORMS
I remember playing Worms back in 1995. I had never heard of such a game until my uncle drove from Arizona to my house in Minnesota, on his motor cycle. All he brought with him was a little bag of clothes along with his Playstation and two games: Command and Conquer Red Alert and Worms. C&C was to difficult for me to play at the time so my uncle busted out Worms. Once Worms was spinning in the Playstation I knew I was in for a treat. What I had just witnessed would change the style of game I preferred to play for a long time to come.
Worms is a turn based artillery game, similar to other early games in the genre such as Scorched Earth. The game is set on a two-dimensional field. The players control a team of worms, each consisting of four members. The objective is to kill every member of the opposing teams within a set time limit per round. Each turn, which lasts from 45 to 100 seconds, a player may move a selected worm and use one or more of the available weapons and tools.
The weapons include simple firearms like the shotgun and Uzi,
alongside a variety of heavy weapons such as the bazooka (the default selection), cluster grenades and airstrikes. The game also includes a number of ‘secret’ weapons such as the Banana Bomb and exploding sheep, for which the series has become famous. Some of these weapons were so fricken funny. The sheep bomb was so funny I only used it for a laugh! Also available are various tools such as the ‘girders’ – primarily used to add protection – as well as the ‘drill’, ‘blowtorch’ and ‘ninja rope’, which are primarily available for greater mobility across the playing field. Some of these weapons in the game were so ahead of their time I could possibly imagine these in many other games. Once I used the blowtorch I realized that it might make a good weapon as well instead of just using it to digg through most of the level. So i lined it up to a worm and began to burn him with the torch why they screamed obscenities at me!
The game was originally created by Andy Davidson as an entry for a Blitz BASIC programming competition run by the Amiga Format magazine, a cut-down version of the programming
language having been covermounted previously. The game at this stage was called Total Wormage (possibly in reference to Total Carnage) and it did not win the competition. Davidson sent the game to several publishers with no success. He then took the game to the European Computer Trade Show, where he met with Mark Foreman – Head Games Buyer at GEM Distribution. Mark suggested to Andy that he should speak to Ocean/Team17 as they would be an ideal partner – they also had a stand at the show. Team17 made an offer on-the-spot to develop and publish the game.
The game was called Total Wormage, before it was renamed Worms.
I still remember what the game felt like and played like today. I have had hours of fun playing this game. From
listening to what they were saying all the way to throwing the banana bombs at them. Like I said before, this game led the way for other games. They have created so many other Worms titles now days that have many more options than the original.
The graphic for this game were very good at the time of its release; you had backgrounds and foregrounds that moved in opposite directions of each other. You had multiple levels and that looked like they just copied and pasted every worm. But it’s safe to say that it seemed like they used all the memory they could possibly use for this game.
The sound in this game is something that can never be forgotten. It was original and kept you focused into the game. The best part was how many different phrases they had for the worms for each different attack and effect. The weapons sounded very good too. All around the sound is still up to par with today’s standards.

Well, it looks like they are finally going to use issue #25 of The Avengers to tie in the VS. X-Men portion. This looks like it is going to be a very promising potion of Marvel. I cant wait to see how the story folds out. It already starts great when Captain America declares war on them. It can only get better from here. I honestly can’t say I ever remember anything like this happening, but of course I am not one to say I have read every comic book out there either.
New British Series Comic
Hey guys, I just received some great news from a publisher. Lets go ahead and see what they got!
I wanted to bring to your attention The Lion and The Unicorn an alternate reality graphic novel series which you might like to consider sharing on your lovely site.
The 28 page A4 format comic is a signed and numbered edition of 200 (ooh, don’t you love it when we talk collectible) and is currently being stocked in Gosh, Mega City and Orbital comics in London and soon to be in Travelling Man in Leeds.
Besides the print version there is also the website thelionandtheunicorn.net which, currently in it’s Alpha 2.0 iteration, is providing the starting point for what I want digital comics to become. Something fully interactive and immersive, not just a printed page transposed to the screen.
There is also the burgeoning Facebook community found here facebook.com/TheLionandTheUnicorn with the social network attempting to be used as a story telling platform (Follow the links to the ‘in world’ pages facebook.com/pages/britomart / facebook.com/CityofThamesis)
These are the adventures of The Lion; an old and embittered, but indestructible war hero and The Unicorn; a dedicated and talented, but naive, female psychic agent.
Together they must form an uneasy alliance to save their city.
Set in the alternate London of Thamesis, capital of The Kingdom of Albion, their world is an epic reflection of our own. In this world, the elusive ‘magic’ of psychic power is a recognised and essential part of modern living.
Psychic technology patches, known as Brands, when applied to the skin, grant exponentially enhanced mental and physical capabilities and an unsurpassed quality of life, to those who can afford it.
There are disenfranchised and openly antagonistic communities who have violently hijacked this technology, boosting the power to create highly dangerous and destructive pirate patches.
The people live in a media fuelled state of perpetual fear of psychic terror, while a weak king grows ever weaker… The cry goes out “Who can save the city of Thamesis?”
Wow this looks really interesting. I don’t think I have seen something this cool. Even the website looks awesome. Clearly these guys are serious about this book.

Review: Silver Star #4
When I dove into this book, I noticed that It was not like the other review books that I have read. There were many different aspects of this book that caught my eye. This is one of my favorite type of books. If you are not familiar with the type of books I like, I can fill you in real quick. The book has to be able to tell the majority of the story by pictures. If I have to read a crap load of word bubbles on a page, it makes me sick. A few bubbles here and there just to confirm what the pictures are saying is true is fine. So this book fits that profile very well.
When you open the book up you will be a little lost due to the fact that a little girl is standing there asking questions and knowing everyone’s name right off the bat. The girl walks forward and keeps asking for Silver Star. For some reason a bunch of old men start chasing her. At this point you feel bad for the girl because everyone seems to want to kill her. She runs into the armory and pulls some sort of futuristic weapon out and kills the old guys. So, the little girls continues on her quest to find Silver Star.
As she continues on her journey we notice that everything has some sort of super hero powers, the trees, and animals, pretty much everything that is living has some sort of power. She has found herself in danger around a forest where trees are trying to kill her. She yells “HEEELP”, so one of the many super heroes fly in to save her. She tells the super hero where she needs to go and he takes her there. Once she arrives at her location she finds Silver Star, but its not what we expect. I am going to leave it up to you guys to discover what she did.
The art of this book was different than any other that I have seen in a while. It almost looks like the outlines were drawn with a dark mechanical pencil and the coloring was done with water color. I really enjoyed the way they set up the whole art style. Once again I was able to determine what was going on most of the time just by looking at the pictures. Very visually enjoyable, Thanks for this book, Dynamite.
Announcement From TAKIO
I can honestly say that so far this year there have been some pretty impressive PSA (public service announcements). They usually include something along the lines of “New York – New York – 3/19/2012; Today So and So had a meeting”, and then discuss what happened and where it will take place if anything takes place. I really like the comic book press releases because they are always great. They generally include some sort of cover shot as well as a bunch of other details. Unfortunately for you guys. all that came in this PSA was this:
And Now, A Public Service Announcement From The Stars of TAKIO!
TAKIO #1 (MAR120632)
Written by BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS
Art & Cover by MICHAEL AVON OEMING
FOC – 4/16/12, ON SALE – 5/9/12
I would have expected a lot more from Bendis, now I understand that this might have been someone else writing, but that’s fine. I will fill in the blanks for you who do NOT know what this is.
TAKIO, an all-ages creator-owned original graphic novel by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Avon
Oeming, the creators of Powers the original TAKIO graphic novel, was an origin story that set the characters up for more adventures. Bendis wasn’t exactly sure he’d get a chance to revisit the characters of Taki and Olivia. When it became clear the book was resonating with readers, the writer put his plans for a sequel in motion.
Bendis is a man who has worked on many other projects. He is a well know writer who has worked on things such as the different Spider Man series, Halo :Uprising, Spider Woman, The New Avengers and many more within that area. He even has a pretty in-depth website that we are all able to go view and see.
Press Release:THE RISING DEAD
There is nothing better than watching The Walking Dead marathon on a Sunday afternoon. Wait, yes there is. Even better is more news about The Walking Dead. Let’s take a look at what else they could possibly add to an already amazing series of comic books and television.
Rachel Rising excerpt to appear in THE WALKING DEAD #95
THE WALKING DEAD #95, in stores on March 28, will have a five-page preview of Terry Moore’s horror comic Rachel Rising, published by Moore’s own Abstract Studio. The trade paperback collecting the first six issues of the ongoing series by the Strangers in Paradise creator, Rachel Rising: The Shadow of Death, will be in comic book stores the same day.
Rachel Rising tells the story of a young woman who cannot die. She wakes up at the foot of her own shallow grave, looking at her own freshly-murdered corpse. The events of her last night are hazy, and Rachel must piece together the events that led to her death — so that she can take revenge on the right person. Comic Book Resources described Rachel Rising as being “chock full of decadent mystery, unspeakable horror, strong characters, and beautiful black and white artwork, and it’s on its way to becoming the best of Terry Moore’s already impressive work.”
THE WALKING DEAD creator Robert Kirkman decided to include the preview in the latest issue of the Image Comics bestseller to support Moore’s work.
“Terry is a personal hero of mine dating back to my self-publishing days,” he writes in his introduction to the
preview. “I’ve always been a fan of his work and an admirer of everything he’s been able to accomplish independently.”
THE WALKING DEAD #95 by Robert Kirkman, Charlie Adlard, and Cliff Rathburn continues the series’ “A Larger World” storyline. Rachel Rising: The Shadow of Death (ISBN 978-1-89259-751-9) is a 120-page black-and-white trade paperback.

Press Release: SEVERED Hardcover in April
Looks like Image is trying to do some Hardcover Horror. I am a big fan of Image and what they have to offer. Let’s see what they have this time.
A CONSUMING FEAR IN SEVERED
Hardcover collection of horror series out on April 11
In 1916, twelve-year-old Jack Garron’s boxcar-hopping adventure turns into a flight from a ravenous, razor-toothed man who haunts the shadows. SEVERED (FEB120457), the Image Comics series that captures all of our childhood fears, has been collected into a hardcover collection that will go on sale on April 11.Eisner-Award-winner Scott Snyder (American Vampire) and Scott Tuft weave a tale that conjures up what they describe as “the deep fright that you have as a kid, the kind that takes your breath away, makes your spine tingle… A primal fear.”
New York Times bestselling artist Attila Futaki (Percy Jackson) matches their story with art rich with historical details and subtle characterization, capturing both the hope of youth and the terror of the unknown. The hardcover collection includes pages originally in issue four of the series that have been re-inked and colored.
IGN called SEVERED “As good as horror comics get,” and MTV Geek described it as “sheer terror in comic book form.”
“I just read through the collected SEVERED and I’m so proud of this book,” said Snyder. “I think it might read even better as a collected book than the single issues and I cant wait for our existing fans to experience it this way. I am also excited for new fans to discover SEVERED for the first time.”
“We couldn’t be happier with the way that the collected SEVERED has come together,” added Tuft. “The bonus material looks great and we are so happy with the design of the book. Steven Finch, our designer, did a fantastic job. We’re also thrilled to have an introduction from the great Jeff Lemire who has been supportive from the beginning even introducing us Scotts to Attila.”
Snyder and Tuft will both be in attendance at this weekend’s WonderCon in Anneheim, where Snyder will be a special guest.
SEVERED is a 200-page hardcover book for $29.99. Its ISBN is 978-1-607065-29-6, featuring a foreword by Jeff Lemire (Essex County, Sweet Tooth). It will be available in comic book stores, bookstores, and online retailers.

From the reviews by IGN and a bunch of other credible sources, this books is going to be SCARY! I have always been a big fan of the horror genre, but haven’t seen it done well in a while. I still love zombies, but when you start mixing Cops with Zombies there’s a problem. These guys are great and I don’t expect to be disappointed!
Review: Grimm Fairy Tales #69
Grimm Fairy Tales #69 was a great read. I honestly don’t think I have any issues with this book. I guess like always the art that does NOT focus on the females of this book could use a little work. Yes, in this issue there happen to be a whole slew of female characters and YES they do have over sized body parts, and yes they are not to scale by any means. I did notice that in some frames one of the leads, Sela, resembles Wonder Woman quite a bit. The story was good and stayed focused.
The story focuses on the two fairy-tale princess being kept in the limbo lord’s jails and finding a way to secure their freedom. The story opens with Sela being thrown into a prison cell inside of limbo. For the first time we get to meet another female character (whose name I do not recall a name at this point) who seems to be a friend of Sela’s. She has a lot of power from what I can gather. They are both in jail and Sela is upset and in a fit of rage, the other female – we will just caller her Greenie for now because of the fact that she is in all green – tells her to calm down and relax because this is exactly what the limbo princess wants you to do. So, Greenie sits Sela down and has her focuses on the good. Almost like that famous word from Anger Management….”Gooooossssseeeee Frrraaaabbbaa”. As the story plays on, the two prisoner princesses are told they need to compete in the “Games” (Not the Hunger Games) to ensure that they both are able to be free as well as Prince Eric who was captured in Issue #68. I am going to leave it at that for now but I suggest you go and read the book. There is a big twist as well as a major cliffhanger.
I need to read issue #70 RIGHT NOW!
The art of this issue was much better than the last issue and is able to keep the story going. There were a few more word bubbles than I like but all in all, they fit well with what was trying to be described by the art. May be its the fact that the majority of the scenes were of the female character, but still it was a big improvement over the last issue.
I would suggest that readers pick up issue #68 as well as this issue so that they can obtain the majority of the story.
Review: Grimm Fairy Tales #68
When It comes to Zenescope all I can imagine is big breasted women. I was surprised as to what else I found in this bookI haven’t read much of the Zenescope books, but I do know they are well know for their great talent in drawing female characters. That is one of the many reasons I chose to review this book. Not only am I interested in the over sized female body parts, I was also curious to see if that all they focused on. Surprisingly the story is very well written.
Like I stated before I opened this book expecting breasts and only breasts every where. There were only a few but far from none. I also noticed that there was a great story being told behind all of the breasts. The story seemed rather interesting. It felt like this could be a jumping on point for the series. As I read on I notice that in the areas about which I am a little confused there is a little word bar that says read a certain book to find out the back story to why this is happening in this book. The main portion of the story is finding out how Prince Eric became a servant to the king of limbo and what is to come in the future. When you open the book you are brought the Lord of limbo and his lair. He is explaining his need to find his faithful servant, Alicia, a faithful companion to help rule limbo when the Lord is no more. As we read read on we realize Prince Eric has been captured and we discover what has happened to his baby. The Prince is put under control by the Lord of limbo to always serve him. He then finds himself talking to his baby mamma…..I mean the mother of his child. They exchange a few words and then to book goes into back story about who and why everyone wants to control a the NEXUS. When we return from the back story we are surprised to see what Alicia is doing next. I will leave you with that so I don’t spoil anymore of the fun.
I really enjoyed this read. The art style could use a little work. It seems like they know how to draw anything female but when it comes to human males they kind of fall off in that area. In a few areas I couldn’t tell if I was looking at the same Prince Eric. The art overall looks very simple and plain. Some portions have OK detail but I also noticed when it came to the females………FLAWLESS!
Nostalgia #5 Kirby Super Star
Welcome to the fifth issue of Nostalgia! Let me explain a little bit about what Nostalgia is. Nostalgia is an idea that came from the creative depths of my little mind that lets me bring back one retro game from the past to you guys! When I say past, I mean anything from the original Pong all the way up to good ol’ Playstation classics. If your one to yearn for the past than you can’t miss an Issue of Nostalgia!
When I think of Kirby, I don’t expect much. All I can see in my simple little mind is a pink marshmallow sucking in air to fly and then blowing it back out to kill his enemies. Until they came out with Kirby Super Star I could not imagine him as anything different.
Kirby Super Star had 8 different Kirby games in one. I remember a time I won $50 bucks off of a lottery ticket that my grandmother bought for me. I took the cash and bought a Super Nintendo as well as Kirby Super Star from SEARS. I had no Idea what to expect. The last time I could remember playing Kirby was back when it came out for the original Game Boy. When I turned on the console for the first time I had no idea what to expect.
Kirby Super Star also known as Kirby’s Fun Pak in Europe, is a 1996 platforming video game developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System video game console. It was
first released in Japan on March 21, 1996, in North America on September 20, 1996, and in Europe on January 23, 1997. Kirby Super Star′s box art states that the game features eight games in one cartridge. Most of these games are platforming-oriented, while some others are mini-games. The different types of games were Spring Breeze, Dyna Blade, Gourmet Race, The Great Cave Offensive, Revenge of Meta Knight, Milky Way Wishes,The Arena,Samurai Kirby, and Megaton Punch.
Spring Breeze is the first game in Kirby Super Star. King Dedede takes food from Dream Land, and Kirby needs to take it back. It is based on and is a remake of
the first Kirby game from the Game Boy. Dyna Blade is the second game in Kirby Super Star. Dyna Blade, a giant bird, is disturbing Dream Land’s crops, and Kirby tries to stop her. Gourmet Race is the third game in Kirby Super Star. Dedede challenges Kirby to a race to see who can get the most food. It is a race against King Dedede incorporating platform elements. The objective is to both beat King Dedede to the finish line and collect the most food. The Great Cave Offensive is the fourth game in Kirby Super Star. While venturing in a forest, Kirby falls into a cave, in the game you try to get out. In it, the player attempts to collect up to sixty treasure chests strewn throughout the game. Revenge of Meta Knight is the fifth game in Kirby Super Star. In it, Kirby attempts to destroy Meta Knight’s battleship, the Halberd, before Meta Knight can conquer Dream Land. Milky Way Wishes is the sixth game in Kirby Super Star. In
it, the Sun and Moon around planet Popstar are fighting. A person about the size of Kirby bouncing on a ball, Marx, tells Kirby he must travel to different planets and defeat the boss at the end of each one in order to reach the giant comet-clock NOVA, who gives Kirby a wish. The Arena is the final game in Kirby Super Star. It is an endurance challenge that requires the player to fight every boss in the game, as well as a Waddle Dee with high endurance, one after the other without dying once. The total boss battles include 26 bosses in 19 rounds.
Samurai Kirby is a timing mini-game similar to Kirby’s Adventure′s Quick Draw. There are five opponents, which get progressively more difficult. The objective is to attack the opponent at the right time without being too early or too late. Megaton Punch is a timing mini-game. In it, the player must punch a stack of platforms by hitting the mark as close as possible in several different timing mechanics, attempting to cause more damage than the opponent. The best score you can get is 201.
Kirby Super Star plays like a standard 16-bit era platforming video game, in which Kirby, the main character, can
go left, right, up and down on a two dimensional plane. Throughout each level, Kirby must avoid touching environmental hazards and a variety of enemies, who mostly have their own attacks. Kirby has a health meter, and when this is depleted, Kirby loses one life and returns to a save point. If he loses all of his lives, the game ends.
Kirby Super Star allows Kirby to copy the abilities of his enemies, and then perform a wide range of attacks using these abilities. Kirby wears different hats and changes color according to the ability he is using.
One of the unique features of this Kirby game is the addition of a “helper”. The helper is an enemy-turned-friend who follows Kirby around and helps fight enemies. A second player can use an additional controller to control the helper,
making a solo experience into a two-player adventure. The helper also sometimes has abilities that Kirby does not when taken control of by a second player. For instance, if Kirby got a Wheel Kirby power and turned it into a helper, Kirby could ride on the helper. While Kirby would die after falling into a pit, a helper character had no such vulnerability. Most of the mini-games have two-player modes as well.
I can say that one of my favorite parts of this game is sucking in your enemies and obtaining their powers. I always enjoyed the different type of hats that he would get from doing this to different type of enemies. I always and still do think it is a great unique game mechanic that I haven’t seen anywhere else yet.
All in All this game is full of good memories. I guess there is good game play as well. This will be the game that we play for my monthly Retro Game Night. I have also discovered that on Ebay a sealed version of this game is going for $999 and higher. If you want a very used copy it will cost you about $35. This game was very rare and has certain collectors by the horns trying to find a good one.
