The Walking Dead has been a huge success for AMC. So much of a success, that rumors have started swirling the fabulous information superhighway about a possible feature film. The Walking Dead is an AMC drama based upon the comic book series of the same name published by Image Comics and written by Robert Kirkman. Having breaking the cable ratings record for the 18-49 demographic with the second season premiere, The Walking Dead television series looks to be gaining even more ground. So could this rumor be something looming in the distance for the next couple of years as the show progresses its natural course? Or could they do some sort of crazy concurrent movie while the show is still alive and well–doubtful.
Personally, I think the serialized television format fits The Walking Dead so much more so than a feature film would. Having come from the comic books, it tends to give the audience the same type of feel as a methodical story that grips you once a week, or in the case of comics, once a month. It is the pacing that is present in those formats that is of great benefit to the series. This added bonus would be lost in the transition to a feature film. It would take an amazing director and story to give it that same substantial feel.
This gossip comes courtesy of Bloody Disgusting, and as presented, it is merely a he said/she said of a he said/she said. Nonetheless, it still presents an interesting conversation piece for fans of the show. What do you think of a possible The Walking Dead feature? How do you think they could fit it into the series? Do you think it would be an ending or an add-on?
